Are you struggling with weariness?
Published 3 days ago • 3 min read
Hey sweet friend,
Although I moved from Pennsylvania, I’m pretty sure the groundhog followed us to the Wisconsin Northwoods. After a deep freeze that seemed to last forever, the thaw has finally begun. The snow is melting (more is coming), and I didn’t realize how tightly I’d been bracing myself against the cold until I felt it begin to lift.
Winter has a way of doing that to us, doesn’t it?
When the days are long and gray, when you’re inside more than you’d like to be, when routines feel repetitive, and the house feels small — weariness quietly creeps in.
And if you’re a mom? Oh my.
Weariness isn’t just about the weather.
It’s the constant noise.
The never-ending laundry.
The mental load of remembering everything for everyone.
The emotional weight of loving your family deeply while sometimes feeling unseen yourself.
Even as an empty nester, I vividly remember those years. And honestly? Weariness doesn’t disappear in new seasons — it just changes shape.
That’s why, as I was digging through the deep archives of my blog, I came across an older post about weariness. It was honest… maybe a little too honest. It felt heavy when I reread it. I could sense how tired my heart had been when I originally wrote it.
Each day, you read a portion of Scripture. Slowly. You copy it out. You sit with it. You let the Word steady your breathing and soften your thoughts. There’s no pressure to create a masterpiece in your journaling Bible. No pressure to “feel” something dramatic.
Just presence.
Just faithfulness.
Just opening your Bible and saying, “Lord, I’m tired. Meet me here.”
Winter blues can be sneaky.
The lack of sunshine.
The isolation.
The comparison that creeps in when you scroll and see everyone else thriving.
But God’s Word doesn’t depend on the season outside your window. His strength doesn’t rise and fall with the temperature.
Isaiah 40 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Not those who push harder. Not those who pretend they’re fine. Those who wait.
There is something profoundly freeing about admitting, “I’m weary.”
The beauty of this plan is that it walks you through both the honest cries of Scripture and the promises of renewal. You’ll see saints who were exhausted. Discouraged. Overwhelmed. And you’ll see a faithful God meeting them again and again.
If you’ve been waking up tired before the day even begins…
If you’ve been snapping at your kids and then feeling guilty…
If you’ve been feeling spiritually dry but don’t even know where to start…
I’ll be creating a journaling workbook to go along with it as soon as I can carve out the time (real-life ministry and family still keep me delightfully busy!). I hope to have it ready for April so we can go even deeper together.
In the meantime, I’ve updated the blog post and the Bible Reading Plan so you can begin right away.
Because Resurrection Sunday comes early this year, I’ll be updating the Easter Journaling Workbook first. There is something so powerful about pairing the message of resurrection with a weary heart. Jesus didn’t rise so we could keep dragging ourselves through life exhausted. He rose so we could walk in newness of life.
Strength doesn’t come from trying harder.
It comes from abiding longer.
If this winter has felt heavier than usual… if you’ve been carrying more than you admit… you are not alone. The Lord sees the quiet tears. He sees the invisible labor. He sees the faithful mothering that no one applauds.

Hello Reader, Have you ever found yourself in a season of motherhood where the weight felt heavy—where discouragement crept in, and no matter how hard you tried, it seemed impossible to keep everything balanced? Psalm 25 has been one of those deeply personal passages of Scripture that God has used to steady my heart during those exhausting seasons of raising children, homeschooling, managing a home, and trying to live out everything I believed a “good mom” should be.
